Hello my little one, welcome to the world,
as around my heart, your fingers have curled.
With just one look at your tiny sweet face,
you've marked my heart with your own special place.

You're a blessing from God, a tiny gift of love,
escorted by angels and a guiding dove.
Your tiny smile, brings such tears of joy
that stream down my face, so much to enjoy.

Will you ever know what you mean to me?
How your very presence sets my spirit free.
I've barely just met you, yet the grip you hold,
is a bond for a lifetime, worth its weight in gold.

I was there with my daughter on the day you were born,
and the nursery was glowing, with you it adorned.
Your long coal black curls, your tiny red face,
you captured the hearts of every nurse in the place.

So meet me, your grandmother, you can call me Gran,
and if the notion strikes you, call me Gran Diane.
But either way you choose, I'm at your beckoned call,
there's a life of joy before us, we are gonna have a ball.
