Have I told you today what you mean to me
You're the light of my life, anyone can see
I remember the day you breezed into my world
Such happiness and joy since then,was unfurled
Your tiny hand, clasped tightly to mine
A feeling of closeness no less than divine
As you learned to walk, to toddle and speak
I still hear you saying: “daddy come get me”
As time progressed and the years rolled on
It was hard to believe how quickly you’d grown
So loving and caring, with your heart on your sleeve
Thinking always of others, it was easily perceived
Video games were your pass time and you loved them so
Meeting every new challenge with your face all aglow
Basketball was your sport, I watched you with pride
As you gave it your all, no one can deny
When I close my eyes,I see you so clear
I reach to embrace you while shedding my tears
No words can express, how much you are missed
To give you up, how I begged to resist
But now you’re in heaven, with wings you will soar
And you'll reign there with God, for now and evermore
God’s promise to me, as I walk the path of His light
Is the day will come when you and I will unite
And Sonny I know that your spirit is free
You look down from the heavens and you’re smiling on me
You're my guardian angel, ‘til my life here is through
Then I'll turn around once more and I'll be there with you
