Hope

The world lies bare here upon my feet
Neither welcoming nor despising me
The grass felt soft under my weight
The air so fresh, knocks me out of breath

The trees are swaying gently
Following the rhythm of the wind
The sun shines brightly
Offering life and hope to those who cling

The waves hit the shores ever so mild
Giving in to the subtle breeze
The white sand grins, inviting me in
To their world of happiness, their state of ease

How I wish the world would always be that way
Full of contentment and never to sway
But alas, life is nothing but the continuing pain
Without the excruciating torment, there is nothing to gain.
