The Woman I Am
|
A man who's heart is gentle,
A man who's eyes are kind,
A man who's strong of conviction,
Warm of spirit, agile of mind.
A man who's always honest,
Says what he means, means what he says,
A man whom I know includes me,
In every one of his prayers.
A man who opened his arms,
To a girl who needed a guide,
She seemed so hardened and sturdy -
He saw through that mask of pride.
He saw the frightened girl inside her,
Coaxed her out and held her close,
He soothed her soul and calmed her fears,
Just when she needed it most.
She stands just a little stronger now,
She still leans on him now and then,
He's always there, won't let her fall,
She won't be alone again.
I know that girl, for she is me,
And that wonderful, beautiful man,
Is you, my most cherished friend,
You help me be the woman I am.
(For Dave ... the best friend a girl could ask for, with all my love)
