The Simple Things |
To watch a sunrise on a clear summer's morn
A new day that's dawning is beauty reborn
The sparkle on a rose when kissed by the dew
Enchantment and wonder are found in this view
A stroll in the moonlight while lovers hold hands
As stars burn white twinkles at nature's command
The gift of a rainbow, after springtime's rain
To bask in such beauty is never in vain
The laughter of children outside while they play
The joy found in listening would cheer any day
To visit a friend who's down on their luck
To bring them your smile is gold you have struck
The birds with their singing, to welcome with ease
Mark nature's perfection in tall seasoned trees
A picnic in the park shared with someone we love
An offered simplicity, not to fall short of
A walk on the beach as waves tease the shore
To regain inner peace, one can only adore
A simple "I love you" can bring on a smile
Whether friend, love, or family.. it's all worthwhile
Life's journey's complex, many battles we meet
And we dismiss simplicity when we rush to compete
But if we slow down its ride, such pleasure it brings
Putting focus on real worth, "the simple things"
